Fishing Report 6/16/16

Looks like the wind is coming back for the weekend. We have had a lot of boats both inshore and offshore landing some nice catches.

Don’t forget to sign the kids up for our 2nd Annual Kids Catchall Tournament next weekend. There will be lots of giveaways and prizes for the kids. There will be two nights of music, food and fun under the big tent. Registration is Friday, 6/24, 6-8pm and Saturday, 6/25, 6-8am. Entry fee is $25 per child.

Fishing out at the Washington Canyon, Dave Woods of North East MD, Dave Hollaway of Middletown, DE, Tim Davis of North East MD and Jim Sensnig of Quarryville, PA caught 8 yellow fin tuna on the troll with ballyhoo.

“Da Chief” headed to the 200 Fathom line just south of the Washington Canyon and hooked up with a nice catch of 3 big eye tuna weighing up to 84lbs, 4 yellow fin tuna and 4 mahi, all caught on the troll with ballyhoo.

Jay Schmidt of Ocean View, DE, caught this 4lb flounder while fishing on the Capt. Bob II on the full day trip with Capt. Roger Meekins. They were fishing around the Old Grounds using cut bait and shiners.

Capt. Rodney Jones took a long haul to the southeast corner of the Washington Canyon, but the Fish Whisperer didn’t come back empty handed. Larry Lee of Ocean View, DE, Don Kindt of Lancaster, PA, Tim Gola of Newark, DE, Steve Williams of Newark, DE, Brian Patane of Pennsville, NJ and Johnny Shine of Frankford, DE brought back 4 yellow fin tuna weighing up to 45lbs.

The gang from the Fish Whistle took an overnight trip out to the Washington Canyon and brought back 14 yellow fin tuna and mahi. The family was waiting to greet them and joined in the picture. Anglers (not pictured Capt. Charlie Horning) Jacob Webb of Lewes, DE, Tommy and Josh Gessler of Media, PA, Travis Dorman of Wilm., DE and Jimmy Taylor of Ocean View, DE.  They also hooked up with a blue marlin release.

Fishing Report 6/11/2016

The warm weather is here. Inshore a few Sea Bass and keeper Flounder have been landed. Offshore some Big Eye and Yellowfin Tuna have been caught. Also there are some reports of catch and release Hammerheads.

Speaking of Hammerheads, the music is playing every day after 3 pm. Come down for cold drinks and a beautiful view to watch the fish come across the docks.

Oliss Flounder 6.11.16

 

Flounder are starting to make an appearance out in the ocean and Lisa and Mick Oliss of Dayton, OH were lucky enough to get in on the action. They fished on the morning trip on the Judy V. and brought back an 18″keeper flounder and a sea bass.  They caught the fish using cut bait and shiners out around the Old Grounds.

Long Flounder 6.11.16

 

Al Long from Camden, DE caught three flounder up to 18″ on the head boat Judy V. with Capt. Chris Adams.  They were fishing around A-Buoy using cut bait and shiners.

Capt. Chris Adams of the Judy V. was showing customers how to catch flounder on the morning trip and caught 3 nice flounder. One weighed 4.1lbs and were all caught using cut bait and shiners out at A-Buoy.

 

Rotelli Flounder 6.11.16

 

Chris Rotelli from California (on left) with the pool winner and Joe Rotelli from Indianapolis with a 17″ flounder that were caught on the half day morning trip on the Judy V.  Capt. Chris reported that they were fishing around A-Buoy using cut bait and shiners.

Fishing Report 6/5/16

What another amazing weekend of fishing! Rockfish and SeaBass are still being landed in the Indian River Inlet and inshore, and multiple Thresher Sharks were caught. A big congratulations to the Indian River Marina Charter Boat Capt. Ike II who placed 1st in Mako Mania with a 407 lbs Thresher. Offshore Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi and Mako are being landed. The season is finally here!

 

Bass and Tile 6.5.16

 

Capt. Rodney Jones of Fish Whisperer Charters took a crew out fishing for tile fish and black sea bass and they did not come back empty handed.  They boated a limit of both blue line and golden tile and then had enough time to bring in 41 keeper sea bass.  Jeff James of Lancaster, PA, Rich Courtot of Silver Spring, MD, Dave Rust of Oxford, PA, Gary Waters of Cockeranville, PA, Ron Oliver of Oxford, PA and Bill Rust of Crisfield, MD deep dropped squid for the tile fish in 350′ of water and then came back inshore some for the black sea bass.

 

Flounder 6.5.16

 

Janet Ruhl of Galena, MD caught this nice citation flattie while fishing out at Site 10.  It weighed 7.4lbs and measured 26″ and was caught on a top and bottom rig with squid and minnows.

 

Green Hornet 6.5.16

 

Todd Buchanan of Sinking Springs, PA, Jack Beck of Coatesville, PA, Dru Baldwin of Birdsboro, PA and Colin Shuman of Shillington, PA caught 8 tuna, 3 mahi and a 100lb mako shark.  They were fishing from the Washington Canyon to the Poor Man’s Canyon from the 250 – 500 line.

The tuna were caught on the troll with ballyhoo and the shark was caught on Triple Threat Chum made exclusively by Hook ’em & Cook ’em.

 

Bill Collector 6.5.16

 

Eddie Kehl of Baltimore, MD, Kevin Huey and George Thompson both of Houston, DE and Eric Van Lill of Severna Park, MD caught a 103lb mako, 6 tuna, 4 mahi and had 2 white marlin releases while fishing the 461 Lump on the Bill Collector.

 

 

Indian Giver 6.5.16

 

Tommy Schanno of Relay, MD, Frank Perna of Great Falls, VA and Jim Bunting of Georgetown, DE caught 5 tuna that weighed up to 45lbs and some nice sized mahi while fishing out at the Washington Canyon.

Fishing Report 5.31.16

Fishing was awesome this weekend! We had a charter boat limit out on Sea Bass. Other inshore catches were Flounder and Rockfish. Offshore Yellowfin and Big Eye Tuna were caught. Also the 1st Blue and White Marlin of the season were hooked over the weekend.

Coffiey 5.30.16

 

The crew of the “Finsatiable” Nate Leo, Johnny Coffiey, Jimmy Coffiey, Luke Horney, Andrew Coffiey and Vito DiFrancesco all from Wilm, DE, caught their limit of yellow fin tuna and one 14lb mahi while fishing at the Norfolk Canyon on Wednesday May 26th.  They caught them on the troll using ballyhoo.  The largest on weighed in at 46lbs.

 

Thresher 5.30.16

 

The crew of the “Just Got Reel” boated this 297lb Thresher shark while out  at the Old Grounds.  They told me they caught this using the fairly new product called “Bloodstream” and a whole mackerel. Picture is Mike Salah, Brett Glatfelter and Amber Kelly all from Wilm., DE, and Scott Binsfeld of Phila., PA.

 

 

Nillari 5.31.16

 

Nino Mallari, Jeff Rosenkilde, Mike Turner, Joe Cangianelli and Moe Fisher all from Baltimore, MD caught these yellow fin tuna while out 10 miles south of the Washington Canyon on the 500-1000 fathom line.  They were trolling ballyhoo.

 

Howell 5.31.16

 

Brian, Jessica and Taylor Howell, Nate and Rich Dunham and Alex Geroux all from Stewartstown, PA fished with Rusty Reel just south of the Washington Canyon trolling ballyhoo and boated 8 yellow fin tuna and 1 mahi.

 

 

Stapleford 5.31.16

 

Scott Stapleford of Milford, DE, Danny Thwaites of Dover, DE, Ken Decker of Smyrna, DE, Mike Babcock of Lewes, DE and Tom Schanne of Relay, MD fished on the boat “Even Keeleigh” and managed to get these 13 yellow fin tuna, 1 mahi and one big eye that weighed 68lbs had the tail bitten off by a mako.  Unfortunately they were unable to hook up the mako.

Fishing Report 5/28/16

Summer is finally here! Inshore reports of nice catches of Flounder, Sea Bass and Rockfish. Offshore reporting Yellowfins, Makos, Blue Sharks and a even a couple small Big Eye Tunas landed.

Fishing Report 5/25/16

Memorial Day weekend is only a few days away and  with this warm weather, the fishing is getting better each day. The Charters and the Headboats are going out each day now, and they are catching landing some great catching. Inshore Rockfish and Seabass are being landed as well as scattered Flounder. On May 23rd the Jason McNatt group from Smyrna. Boated 28 bass , a flounder and a few dog sharks at site 11 on Clam And  fleas….Fish Whisperer Charters. #wreckaholic

 

Coffiey 5.25.16

 

Jimmy Coffiey of Wilmington, DE, caught this 46″ 30.6lb rock fish when he was fishing the incoming tide in the Indian River Inlet. Jimmy caught this fish using a Red Head Sea Trout Tsunami swim bait fishing with his cousin Capt. Andrew Coffiey on the “Go Big”.

 

Lewis 5.25.16

 

Mike Lewis of Hook ’em & Cook ’em caught this 16″ flounder and 16″ blue fish while fishing in the VFW Slough in the Indian River Bay.  He was using a jig head with a white gulp.

 

Price 5.25.16

 

Alex Price of Baltimore, MD, caught this 37″ 17lb rock rish when fishing with a black Bomber on the North side of the jetty in Indian River Inlet.

 

Lindsay 5.25.16

 

Tara Wojciechowski and John Lindsay of Dagsboro, DE caught these nice striper when they visited Ocean City, MD and fished at 137st. Tara caught hers using a Bomber and was the bigger of the two weighing in at 19.2lbs and measured 37 1/2″ while John caught his using an SP Minnow from Daiwa and it weighed 16lbs and measured 36″.

Fishing Report 5.23.16

The rain has finally stopped….for now. And the fish are starting to arrive. Offshore there are many Blue and Mako Sharks being landed. As well as Yellowfin Tuna are being caught out in Washington Canyon. Inshore Rockfish are being caught as well as scattered Flounder.

Fishing Report for 5/20/2016

The Miss Ene III with Capt. Eddie Wagner did it again with a limit of black sea bass for Joe Muller of Garnet Valley, PA, Willie Toy of Boothwyn, PA and Paul Solum of Chichester, PA. They were fishing Site 10 with sand fleas and squid.

A limit of black sea bass was caught by John Breznak of Ellicott City, MD, Seth Murphy of Severn, MD and Lenny Breznak of Millsboro, DE while fishing on the Miss Ene III with Capt. Eddie Wagner. They were fishing out at Site 11 using squid and sand fleas.

Capt. Rodney Jones of Fish Whisperer Charters took this group of service men and woman from the USCG Station – Lewes, DE on a charter for black sea bass. They fished out at Site 11 using sand fleas. Fishing Report 5/15/2016

The rain finally stopped and the sun came out…for now at least! But we will take any sun we can get, and once the weather  turned and the fishing is picking up. Rockfish, which finally arrived, and Bluefish are also being caught throughout the inlet. Inshore Tog seems to be the main catch, with many boats catching their limit. Offshore a couple of Mako have been spotted and lots of Blue Sharks have been caught.

Randy Eddinger of Harbeson, DE, Mike Eddinger of Millsboro, DE and Charlie Hunter of Earleville, MD caught these nice keeper tog out at Site 11 using green crabs.  The largest one weighed in at 7.5lbs.

They also reported that were seeing nice large sea bass that of course will not be there when the season opens.

Fishing Report 5/6/16

We finally have the first photos of the season. With all the rain and wind, there have been some fish landed during the breaks in weather. We hope this rain will finally move on and let the season start.

Hopefully the sun will come out this weekend and, when it does, treat Mom to Hammerheads Dockside for a cool beverage, great atmosphere and a great view.

Mullet 5.6.16

 

Chris Swinehart from Ocean City, MD caught this 11.1lb blue fish while fishing at 3 R’s beach on whole mullet.

Andrew Rase of Newark, DE, caught this 19.4 lb rock fish while fishing in Ocean City on the beach.  He was using fresh bunker.

This 10.8lb blue fish was caught at 3 R’s beach on mullet by Mark Hynson of Newark, DE.

Brent Jones of Milford, DE caught these 3 tog while fishing on the Wreckaholic with his father, Capt. Rodney Jones. They were at Site 10 using green crabs and sand fleas.
