Written on: December 31st, 2019 in Fishing Report

Well, it’s the last report of the year and of the decade! 2019 brought us lots of fun, lots of sun, and lots of fish hitting the deck!

Let’s take a look back at some of our favorite memories of the year:

6/2/2019 This 159lb Mako shark was caught while fishing in the Poor Man’s Canyon using bluefish on the “No Limit” with Capt. John Azato, John Motley of Pike Creek, DE, Vito DiFrancesco of Wilmington, DE, Mike Baumgartner of Rehoboth, DE and Luke Horney of Hockessin, DE.
6/2/2019 Taylor Deemer, angler with Tyler Tribbitt and Capt. Tim Tribbett (on camera duty) fished 100 fathoms at the Baltimore canyon and boated and released the first white marlin of the season for Indian River Marina.
6/15/2019 Boy’s Toy went out to the Baltimore Canyon and used spreader bars to land yellowfins and a few skip jacks. Josh, Tommy, Francesca, Mary, Matthew, and Tom Gessler, Nolan Fraser, Fred Wetzstein, and Jay Marshall weighed their biggest tuna in at 52.7 pounds.
6/22/2019 This young angler hauled in the winning shark for IRM’s Kids Catch All 2019 fishing tournament.
8/7/2019 Steve Redden, Pat Petrera, and Jeff Waxman fished on the Priceless along the beach at Fenwick Island and hooked up with some nice cobia. They weighed 47lbs and 30lbs and were caught using a zucchini colored Spro bucktail.
8/18/2019 This great catch of mahi, weighing in at 186lbs was brought in by the Double D’s while fishing in the Baltimore Canyon. Pictured are Capt. Dwayne Dodd, Hunter Holland of Frankford, DE, Jom Grohman of Fenwick Island, DE, Amber Counsellor of Smyrna, DE, Cade Grohman of Fenwick Island, DE and Robert St. Jacques of Laurel, DE. (Not pictured is Capt. Dennis Robbins)
9/16/2019 John, Carmen and Christian Ostrowski of Chadds Ford, PA fished at the Wilmington Canyon using plastics like Mold Craft and a Hawaiian Lure to hook up with these 3 beautiful fish. 2 weighed 78lbs and one at 74lbs, they also brought in some mahi weighing up to 13lbs.

Signing off for the last time until next decade and as always, wishing you tight lines and good times in 2020!

Fishing Report 10/20/19

Written on: October 20th, 2019 in Fishing Report

Well the weather sure has not been cooperating with us much this fall.   We had a few boats venture out yesterday with not much to report except a few Seabass.  We will post more if we hear from any of the Captains that fished Offshore.

The marina has many large dock projects including some maintenance dredging and we are asking if you are not using your vessel please schedule your haul out immediately.   We need the boats out of the water as soon as possible this year so all construction can start on time.  We have been sending reminders of this construction since August and your cooperation is much needed.

Have a great Harvest season and till next time Tight Lines & Good Times.

Fishing Report 9/16/19

Written on: September 16th, 2019 in Fishing Report

It’s been a pretty slow week for fishing, thanks to the windy weather.

Here’s some pictures from this week in fishing:

While fishing on her birthday, Darla Williard of Harrisburg, PA, caught this 5.3lb and 24.5 inch flounder on the Judy V. with Capt. Chris Adams. Capt. Chris said she caught it using a minnow out at Site 10.
John, Carmen and Christian Ostrowski of Chadds Ford, PA fished at the Wilmington Canyon using plastics like Mold Craft and a Hawaiian Lure to hook up with these 3 beautiful fish. 2 weighed 78lbs and one at 74lbs, they also brought in some mahi weighing up to 13lbs.
Steve Beaudet of Newark, DE, Nick Merlino of Lewes, DE and Capt. Tom Dicampli of Wilm., DE fished at the Del-Jersey site using sand fleas with chartreuse Gulp to bring in this load of black sea bass. The largest fish weighed in at 2.6lbs.

Nice catches, everyone! Hopefully soon we will have more to report. I just saw a decent size tuna and swordfish hanging over at Hook ’em & Cook ’em, so we’ll have more to report on those later. These photos courtesy of Hook ’em & Cook ’em.

Thanks also to everyone who came out for our 1st Annual Autumn Art Festival! We had beautiful weather and a pretty good crowd that rolled through all day. Here’s a little wrap-up from that:

Signing off, and as always, wishing everyone tight lines and good times!

Fishing Report for 8/29/19

Written on: August 29th, 2019 in Fishing Report

Happy Labor Day Weekend!!!

It looks as though the weather is going to settle down and our boats will leave the docks this weekend.

Before the blow we had some great fishing reports and fish hitting the docks like Flounders, Tunas, Tilefish, Mahi and many Marlin Releases.  With the weather being just right let just hope the fish will bite for all the boats headed out over the weekend.  We will keep you posted as soon as we receive some reports.

Upcoming events Saturday Sept. 7th 9am-2pm The Fisherman’s Flea Market in the parking lot in front of Tackle Shop in Marina.  This may not be a huge event but this I can say, the equipment and gear your fellow slip holder’s put out is plentiful and sometimes quite unique.

The 1st Annual Autunm Art Festival is Saturday Sept. 14th 10am-5pm.  We will have all sorts of fun from over 60 art vendors, food, pumpkin painting, pinata’s, face painting, music, craft beer and wine tasting under the new pavilion and much more…so bring the entire family down for the event.

Hope to see you at all of our events in September.  Till then Tight Lines and Great Times!!!!

What a week of thunderstorms! Hope nobody got caught in that pop-up tempest that hit the Sussex/OCMD area yesterday.

We wanted to wish all our IRM slipholders the best of luck in the Mid-Atlantic Fishing Tournament this week! Bring us another win home!

OFFSHORE

Tons of blue and white marlin releases being reported offshore. Record-breaking wahoo hitting the scales, mahi limits being hauled in, and scattered yellowfin tuna.

Keep your eyes on that leaderboard – good luck again to our IRM boats!
