Fishing Report for 6/2/2014

Les Brightbill of Dagsboro, DE, caught this 3lb and 19.5″ flounder when he was fishing in the Indian River Inlet using Gulp and a minnow.

Fishing Report for 6/1/2014

Mike Babcock of Lewes, DE, first time fisherman Chazz Didomenicis of Rehoboth, DE, Michael Zorzi of Rehoboth, DE, Neal DeAngelo and Barratt Cullen of Wilmington, DE of the “Reel EZ” caught a 61.2lb bluefin tuna and two yellowfin tuna weighing in at 46.3lbs and 46.5lbs.  They were fishing at the Baltimore Canyon using green machine lures.

Fishing Report for 5/31/2014

Jacob Webb of Lewes, DE, David Hess of Felton, DE, Paul Matthews of Lewes, DE, and Ken Kaiss of Harbeson, DE, of the “Island Girl” caught this 135.2lb thresher shark fishing with whole bluefish southeast of B-buoy.

Tim Auman of Harrisburg, PA, caught this 5.3lb and 24″ flounder in the Indian River Inlet using a fly.

Rick Schlege of Temple, PA, was using live minnows and caught this 4.8lb and 24.5″ flounder while fishing around Burton’s Island on the Indian River Bay.

There are plenty of boats in the Inlet this afternoon so there will be more to report on as the weekend continues.  Until then, tight lines!

Fishing Report for 5/28/2014

Joe Nudge of Chesapeake City, MD, Todd Willard of Rehoboth, DE, John Centrella of Wilmington, DE and David Foote of Timonium, MD comprise the team on” Christy’s Competition”that caught this 158.8lb Thresher shark when fishing whole mackerel on the 20 Fathom line.

Offshore, yellowfin in the 30-40lb range and bluefin have been reported in the Baltimore and Washington Canyons.

We are looking forward to another great weekend so tight lines until then!

Fishing Report for 5/24/2014

Happy Memorial Day Weekend from everyone at Indian River Marina.  The fishing action continues to heat up at IRM with the first yellow fin and blue fin tuna.  Offshore fishing is picking up.  There have been reports and catches of yellow fin tuna, and blue fin tuna in the Baltimore, Spencer, and Poormans Canyons.

Inshore reports and catches have come in for rockfish, trout, and flounder.  Rockfish in the Inlet have also been landed.

Ryan Foran, his friends Ryan and Joe and their sons, Gavin, Riley, and Joe fished with IRM Charter Capt. Aaron and Jim Coffiey on Gale Force Friday. They caught many short Rockfish along with 2 keepers.

On opening day of black sea bass season, IRM’s Capt. Dave Collins of the Capt. Ike II, took Jacob Webb of Lewes, DE, Ryan Harris and Chris Walker of Seaford, DE, and Steve Wrightson of Easton, DE out to the Dry Docks.  They came back with 77lbs of sea bass and 22lbs of cod. Chris got himself a nice citation bass weighing in at 4.8lbs and measuring 21.5″.

Matt Burns of Ocean View, DE, caught this 16.6lb and 37″ rock fish when he fished a hickory shad in the Indian River Inlet

Eddie Carper caught this 3.7lb and 23″ sea trout when he was fishing in the Indian River Inlet on the north side using a zoom worm with a jig head.

Corey Brossman of Wyomissing, PA caught a 5.3lb trout and a 15lb and 16lb rock fish while his friend Sam Bozochovic of Williamsport, PA, caught an 18.8lbs rock fish.  Both were fishing in the Indian River Inlet using 5″ Storm Lures to catch all of the fish.

The team from “Stress Reel-ief”, Bo Wilkinson, Paul Daisy, Capt. Fred Winward and Keith Berger all of Roxanna hooked up into Indian Rivers first yellow fin and blue fin tuna of the year.  The blue fin weighed in at 44.7lbs and was caught while trolling ballyhoo out at the Baltimore Canyon.

Fishing Report for 5/21/2014

Over the weekend Indian River Marina saw the first mako hit the docks!

Capt. Devin Wiley of Smyrna, DE, Jim Blair of Clayton, DE, Steve Gross of Bear, DE, and angler Jake Blair of Clayton, DE, caught this 88.2lb mako shark fishing with whole mackerel out at Marine Electric.

Fishing Report for 5/20/14

The fishing was so hot over the past weekend that we still have a few more pictures to share thanks to Hook ’em & Cook ’em.

Jon Griffiths of Rockville, MD and Pete Sivils of Milton, DE caught these nice rock fish while fishing in the Indian River Inlet using Bass Kandy Delights.  The biggest weighed in at 20.2lbs

Mike Kilakis of Mechancville, MD, caught this 37″ and 16.5lb rock fish using Tsunami olive back swim shads in the Indian River Inlet.

Curtis and Tim Auman of Baltimore, MD, caught these 21lb and 40″, 17.9lb and 37″ and 14.3lb and 33″ rock fish using Storm lures and Power Baits in the Indian River Inlet.

Alex Price and PJ Schenk of Ocean View, DE, caught these 15.7lb and 36.75″ and 17.3lbs and 38″ rock fish using Storm Lures and Chesapeake Lures in the Indian River Inlet.

Fishing Report for 5/19/14

The fishing action has been hot here at Indian River Marina.  Apparently the great spring weather not only brought out the crowds, but also the fish!

On IRM’s own Gale Force Charters, Brian Smith of Dallastown, PA, Michael O’Neill of York, PA and Jack Schenck of Dover, DE went fishing with Capt. Aaron Hurd and caught these nice stripers.  They weighed in at 19.8lbs and 12.4lbs and were caught using bucktails.

Josh Tryon of Lewes, DE, caught an 11lb rock fish and a 4.1lb weak fish while fishing with swim shads in the Indian River Inlet.

Tim, Breeze, Steve and Carl Parrill and Keith Carter, all of Bethany Beach, DE, went out fishing with Capt Phil Goote on the “Fish Magnet”out of Hooper’s Island and had their limit of trophy rock fish in 2 hours while they were trolling planer boards.

John Carr of North East, MD, Capt. Kenny Gray of Rehoboth, DE, Don and angler Joseph Foley of Warwick, MD and Brian Gray of Selinsgrove, PA caught the first thresher shark of the season just inside of B-buoy. This shark weighed in at 268.8lbs and was caught using whole mackerel on “Just Right 5”

David Rice of Hellertown, PA, caught this 17.5lb and 36.5″ rock fish while fishing the Indian River Inlet using Tsunami swim shads.

John Lindsay of Dagsboro, DE, caught these 16.6lb and 18.4lb rock fish on the morning incoming tide using swim shads in the Indian River Inlet.

George Celia of Douglasville, PA, caught this 13.6lb black drum while trying to fish for flounder with a plain hook and a chartreuse swimming mullet Gulp bait.  He was fishing in front of the Coast Guard station in the Indian River Inlet.

Fishing Report 5/4/14

Boats are being splashed, the docks are filling up, and the boat ramp is getting busier everyday.  It was a rough winter for most, but the start of the season is finally here.  Hammerheads Dockside is open on weekends from 8 AM until 8 PM until May 16th when regular hours, 7 AM until 10 PM, 7 days per week will resume.

Here at Indian River Marina flounder, tog, and small rockfish have been reported.  Further south at Oregon Inlet anglers are slamming big eyes, yellowfins, bluefins, and even some nice gaffers.  We are hoping these fish make it up our way soon.

Tim Auman of Harrisburg, PA, caught a 22″, 3.6lb flounder while fishing along the Indian River Inlet near the Marina entrance.  He caught it with a handmade pink, blue and white fly that he tied.

Dan, Fran and Jake Okoniewski and Bob Ficaturo
of Wilmington, DE went fishing out at the Washingtonian and came back with
their limit of tog and one flounder.
They tog was caught on green crab and the flounder was caught using a
minnow on a bucktail.

Fishing Report for 4/21/2014

IRM is getting very close to being in full-swing once again.  The beautiful weather this past Saturday brought a lot of folks out to continue prepping their boats for the upcoming season and we even saw some boats heading out onto the water.  Hammerheads Dockside reopened on Saturday as well and will be open on weekends from 8 AM until 8 PM through May 16th when they will resume their regular schedule.  It was great seeing the restaurant and bar bustling, a sure sign of a great season to come.

For our slip holders, please stop in to the office to pick up your IRM codes and slip holder card, which entitles you to a $.05 per gallon fuel discount, 10% discount at the revamped Ship’s Store, and 5% off at Hammerheads Dockside.

Don’t forget that the IRM Kids Catch-All Tournament is fast approaching on June 27th, 28th, and 29th for individuals 3 to 18 years of age.  All registered participants will recieve a rod and reel donated by Hook ’em & Cook ’em and a t-shirt.  More information on the tournament can be found by visiting http://www.destateparks.com/marinas/Catch-all-tournament-2014.asp on the marina web site.

Last, but not least, be sure to mark your calendars for the 6th annual IRM Seafood and Arts Festival in July 26, 2014.  As always there will be plenty of vendors, great food, and fun games for the kids!
