Fishing Report 07/28/16

Fishing Report 7/27/16

Well, we will see the temps lower a little bit this weekend, so give us a call to book a charter trip on one of our charter fleet boats. They are booking up fast. We are hearing the tuna fishing is very good right now and many folks are loading their freezers with tuna. Give us a call at 302-227-3071 to book your charter trip.

Fishing Report 7/25/16

Fishing is Red Hot, so give us a call and get hooked on your own Private Charter. Call Carolyn at 302-227-3071 to book your trip. Come on down to Hook’em & Cook’em and watch the fish being weighed in daily and then stroll over to Hammerheads Dockside for a nice cool beverage and some good eats.

 

Check out the fish caught on one of our Charter Fleet vessels here at Indian River Marina!!!!  Bryan Meurer and Dwayne Haga of Rising Sun, MD, David Hanks of Joppa, MD, Derek Haga and Dean Weaver of Rishing Sun, MD filled their coolers with plenty of tuna when they fished with Capt. Dave Collins of the Capt. Ike II.  They fished  with chunked butterfish and sardines and landed 15 yellow fin tuna.  Great job finding the fish Captain Dave!

Fishing Report 7/22/16

Happy Friday! The heat is on for at least the next five days, so try and stay cool. We have our Seafood and Arts Festival here at the marina Saturday, 7/23/16, from 10am-6pm.

We are seeing some good tuna fishing off shore, so give us a call at 302-227-3071 to book a charter trip on one of our charter fleet boats. Call in and ask for Carolyn.

Check out these catches from this week.

 

Liam Coyle and William Winkler, both of Frankford, DE, chunked butterfish while out at the Canyon and caught their first blue fin tuna. Liam landed a 60lb tuna and Will caught an 86lb tuna.

 

Twin sisters Lilly and Sophia Merrick, daughters of Capt. George Merrick, fished on the Boy’s Toy and caught their first blue fin tuna. They were chunking butterfish to catch this 71lb tuna.

 

Dennis Robbins and Dwayne Dodd of “Double D Sportfishing”, fished with chunked butterfish and sardines and hooked up with these 3 yellow fin tuna that averaged 40lbs and also brought back 3 mahi.

 

Chad Tingle of Frankford, DE, Kiira Akers of Montana, Frank Blomquist (not pictured), Ariella Meyers and Capt. Rodney Meyers from the Last $ fished with chunked butterfish and squid and came back with 2 blue fin tuna, 2 yellow fin tuna and a mahi. The largest blue fin weighed 70lbs.

Fishing Report 7/20/16

Here are some pics from this past weeks fishing.

 

Steve, Bill and Devon Danner, Josh Simpson, all of Mechanicsburg, PA, Heath Burger of Reading, PA and Bob Kannenberg of Green Castle, PA, got lucky on “Still Lucky” while trolling in the Washington Canyon when they hooked up this 179lb big eye tuna. This big eye tuna now tops the leader board here at Indian River Marina. Also boated was an 83lb mako shark and 26 tile fish.

 

8 year old Colin Dunn fished on the Judy V. with Capt. Eddie Wheedleton and caught two keeper flounder. One of them being the pool winning fish it weighed 3.4lb and measured 17.5″.  Way to go Colin!

Fishing Report 7/15/16

Check out some of these great pics catches from this week.

Capt. Rodney Meyers of the Last $ Charters, Mike Phillips, Mike Vaughnn and Ariella Meyers took a trip out for the blue fin. He wasn’t disappointed with this 70.1lb tuna.

 

Jack Hamilton of Phila., PA, caught this 4.3lb monkfish while fishing using Gulp bait.

 

Mason Armao of Womelsdorf, PA, and Dustin, David and Kerry Wolf of Reading, PA brought this 364.5lb Thresher shark in after a long 6 hour fight.  They hooked this shark up at 12pm and finally got it to the boat at 6pm.  Then they had to drag this beast to the dock slowly and didn’t wind up getting in until after 8pm.  This Thresher was caught using a whole mackerel, but it also had plenty of bunker in its stomach.

 

Earl Mondy of Rising Sun, MD, John Debenevitto of Lancaster, PA and Vince Barr of Newark, DE fished at Site 10 using bunker strips and came back with 7 keeper flounder and this 6.8lb cobia.

Fishing Report 7/14/16

Welcome to the sweltering heat! Come on down and get out on a boat and do some fishing. It is always cooler out on the water. We are seeing some good fishing. Hookem & Cookem had been busy cleaning fish all week. Check out some of these catches.

 

Joe O’Brien of State College, PA caught these keeper 17″ flounder while fishing with Capt. Roger Meekins on the Lazy Man’s Trip on the Capt. Bob II. They fished out at the Old Grounds using cut bait.

 

The “Jack Rabbit” trolled in Hambone for tuna on Monday using a pink skirted ballyhoo and brought back a nice 64.8lber. Robert Grover, John Kopanski, blue fin angler James Trickey and Julie Trickey all from Middletown, DE also brought home 4 mahi.

 

Annie Fredrickson of Rehoboth Beach, DE caught this 6lb and 25″ flounder while fishing out at Site 10 using squid and minnows.

 

Steve Kissling of Burnville, PA, Mark Barr of Leesport, PA, Jeff Kissling of York, PA, Travis Stolz of Robesonia, PA and Lee Filbert of Mohrsville, PA took a trip with Capt. Ike II out to the Poor Man’s Canyon and had a good day of tuna fishing. They caught four blue fin tuna while trolling ballyhoo and the largest 55.5lbs.

 

While on the Capt. Bob II with Capt. Roger Meekins Stephanie Stuble of State College, PA caught these keeper 16″ and 17″ flounder. These were caught out at A-Buoy using cut bait on a top and bottom rig.

Fishing Report 7/3/2016

Happy 4th Weekend!

 

Annie Fredrickson of Rehoboth Beach, DE caught this 6lb and 25″ flounder while fishing out at Site 10 using squid and minnows.

 

 

Joe Recker of Chicago, IL caught this 20″ flounder while on the Judy V. with Capt. Eddie Wheedleton out at the Old Grounds.  They were using cut bait on a top and bottom rig.

 

 

While on the Capt. Bob II with Capt. Roger Meekins Stephanie Stuble of State College, PA caught these keeper 16″ and 17″ flounder.  These were caught out at A-Buoy using cut bait on a top and bottom rig.

 

 

9 year old Casey Bridges of Balitomre, MD, caught the fish pool winner on the Judy V.’s morning trip with Capt. Eddie Wheedleton. This fish 22″ flounder was caught out at the Old Grounds using cut bait on a top and bottom rig.

 

 

Capt. Ike II with Capt. Dave Collins caught this 74.5lb blue fin.  It is the biggest blue fin of the year at Indian River Marina and was caught by  Joseph Krynitsky of Charlottesville, VA.  Mark Yarosh of Reston, VA, Jim McGrath of Bethany Beach, DE, Capt. George Merrick, Waz Harrington, of Fairfax, VA, Mark Krynitsky of Manassas, VA and Joseph Krynitsky trolled with ballyhoo at Poor Man’s for these 4 blue fin and 1 yellow fin.

 

 

 

Steve Kissling of Burnville, PA, Mark Barr of Leesport, PA, Jeff Kissling of York, PA, Travis Stolz of Robesonia, PA and Lee Filbert of Mohrsville, PA took a trip with Capt. Ike II out to the Poor Man’s Canyon and had a good day of tuna fishing.  They caught four blue fin tuna while trolling ballyhoo and the largest 55.5lbs.

 

 

Keeping things a secret, Tony Rydzewski of Indian River, DE, caught this 3lb and 20″ flounder fishing in the “Ocean” using a silver teaser on minnow and squid.

 

 

Dutch “Doormat” Workman from Salisbury, MD was one short of his limit of flounder on Thursday.  He fished the Capt. Bob II with Capt. Roger Meekins at A-Buoy using cut bait and a bucktail. Dutch’s biggest fish weighed 3lbs and measured 20″ inches

 

 

Tyler Long of Allentown, PA, was one short of a limit on the Lazy Man’s trip on the Capt. Bob II.  Tyler fished with Spro bucktails and cut bait and jigged for his flounder at A-Buoy with Capt. Roger Meekins.

 

 

Capt. Chris Adams of the Judy V. had a day off and still decided fishing was the best way to spend his time.  He fished on the Capt. Bob II with Capt. Roger Meekins and caught his limit of flounder, with the largest weighing 4.2lbs and measure 22″ while fishing at Site 10 using Gulp bait.

Fishing Report 7/2/2016

Fishing is really picking up Inshore and Offshore. This weekend is going to be amazing down here at Indian River Marina. Stop by Hammerheads and get a cool drink and watch all the fish come across the gangway!

Here are some photos of the recents catches.

 

 

Beau Bright of Elkins, WV, caught this 10.5lb blue fish while fishing in the Indian River Inlet with Capt. Aarron Hurd of Gale Force Charters.

Capt. Aarron reported that during the early morning on incoming tide was best using Clarkspoons.

 

 

In Rehoboth Bay, Johnny Walls of Hockessin, Rich Franz of Harrisburg, PA and Rich Yoder of Oley, PA took this 142 lb butterfly ray while bowfishing.

 

 

 

An overnight trip to the Poor Man’s Canyon turned out well for the crew on “Knock on Wood” While trolling ballyhoo Chris Long of Wyoming, DE, Carter Dudzinski of Elkton, MD, Dave Woods of North East, MD and Johnny Coffiey of Hook ’em & Cook ’em, caught 9 yellow fin, 4 mahi and 2 white marlin releases.  The largest weighed 53lbs

 

 

 

The full day fishing trip on the Capt. Bob II had a good day of flounder catching with 35 flounder coming over the rails. Capt. Roger Meekins reported that most of the fish were caught around the Old Grounds area either jigging Gulp baits or using a top and bottom rig with squid and minnows. The largest fish weighed 6.3lbs and measured 26″ and was caught by Henry Warren. Pictured are Mike Hamilton of Newark, DE, Darrell Doupnik of Easton, MD,  Jay Schimdt of Ocean View, DE, Tom Adkins of Denton, MD, Henry Warren of Milford, DE and (originally from Poland) Radek Lempicki, Jozek Kolono and Damian and Ploszaj Stanislaw, all from Wilmington, DE.

 

 

 

Michael John of Rehoboth Beach, DE caught these to 16″ flounder while on the Capt. Bob II with Capt. Roger Meekins. Michael caught these while fishing at the Old Grounds using cut bait.

Fran Saltysiak of Balitmore, MD caught this fish pool winner on the Capt. Bob II with Capt. Roger Meekins. The fish measured 23.5″ and weighed 4.2lbs and was caught at the Old Grounds using cut bait on a top and bottom rig.

Don Gettle of Ocean View, DE and Mitch Gettle of Dillsburg, PA took a trip out to C-Buoy and brought back 4 flounder and 6 keeper sea bass.

Don caught all of the black sea bass,using squid, with the largest measuring 15″ and Mitch caught all of the flounder using squid and minnow on a chartreuse and white flounder rig, with the largest measuring 19″.
